Immersive virtual worlds and circus performers

Our personal technologies have become an extension of ourselves. Blindscape looks to exploit that connection to engage its audience in a visceral environment that disintegrates the real and virtual boundaries.

Using a provided iPhone, pre-loaded with the specially designed Blindscape App, you enter the virtual world as you enter the performance space. The Blindscape App is a 3D audio-virtual reality. Coloured in by an unseen hand, perception and reality fold over as you explore corridors, doorways and landscapes. The light from your phone helps you to view fragments of circus which are spectacular but elusive, in this unique performance experience.

About the Artist

Skye Gellmann : Initiating Creator

Skye Gellmann lives in a North Fitzroy house covered by vines and it is true, that these vines hold up the walls. On grimy warped floors he has created work for 6 years, and through some intuition and also luck, has amounted an impressive display of accolades he uses to patch holes in his roof. Beyond the rusting rooftop, his scheming intention is to perform circus in space in order to explore the effects of zero gravity on the circus body.

Kieran Law : Co-creator

Kieran Law is a trained physical theatre performer and performance maker. He has also performed as an actor, dancer and now as a circus performer. Kieran is passionate about creating experiences for audiences that shift beyond everyday life to tap into something more unifyingly human.

Dylan Sale : Game Programmer

Dylan Sale is a computer programmer, game designer, and co-owner to Two Lives Left. His focus is currently on mobile games. Games are his passion, and he plays, criticises and creates them whenever he can. He lives in Adelaide with his wife and their young son.

Thom Browning : Sound Designer

Thom Browning is a Brisbane based multi-disciplinary artist and producer. He is co-founder and Associate Artistic Director of Imaginary Theatre, and has worked freelance in diverse roles across Australia and Asia with organisations and individuals including Circa, LATT Children’s Theatre (South Korea), KITE Arts Education Program at QPAC, State Library of Queensland, deBase Productions, Restaged Histories Project, Motherboard Productions, Offset Art, Daniel Santangeli, Kieran Law and Genevieve Trace.

Gareth Hart : Producer

Gareth Hart is a Melbourne-based artist with interests in Choreography, Theatre and Photography. His work has been seen at venues including Dancehouse, The National Gallery of Australia, Brisbane Powerhouse, Canberra Theatre and Federation Square. He is currently Artistic Director of Crack Theatre Festival.
